Day 9 already – hard to believe it’s almost over.
Taking in the feedback from customers in the store who are on the challenge, as well as the Facebook group feedback, I think the thing people have found the most difficult challenge is doing things for themselves. Everyone is so busy that it just feels wrong to schedule some down time. I wrote about this in my last post but it just keeps rearing its ugly head- we need to look after ourselves too!
My indulgence was booking a pedicure last Thursday. It took me away from the shop for 1/2 day but I had been working 7 days a week so I shouldn’t feel bad about this (which at first I did). If I hadn’t written it on the list I wouldn’t have done it. And it was the right thing to do. I needed some down time out, and laying back enjoying a little pampering was exactly what the doctor ordered.
I’ve also found I’ve achieved a few more of my other Christmas jobs by having them on the challenge. As this is the busiest week of the year at the shop it is very easy to forget everything else, but I’ve managed to knock off a few jobs on my Christmas ‘to do’ list which feels great.
So, if you are along for the ride I have two request:
– don’t forget to set at least one “for you” challenges in the last few days,
– if you want to be on the challenge but haven’t started because it seems too overwhelming, choose the shortest, simplest task on your Christmas list and get started. It might be as simple as choosing a present for your children, or partner. Just one, and then you are under way.
Thank you for involvement, commitment and many positive comments particularly in our Facebook page and from those who have visited the store. Best of luck for the last few days.
